About the programme

This competency-based curriculum on ‘Psychosocial Counselling Training’ is designed
to produce competent human resources in the field of psychosocial counselling.
Trainees will be equipped with knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the
psychosocial counselling.
The trainees will practice psychosocial counselling skills as prescribed by
approved curriculum. Once the trainees acquire the competencies specified in the
curriculum they will have plentiful of opportunities for employment through which they
will contribute to the nation where the psychosocial problems remain.

Programme purpose

The aim of the curricular program is to produce and supply competent ‘Psychosocial
Counsellors equipped with knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for psychosocial
counselling so as to fulfil the need of such human resources in the country and abroad.

Programme Objectives

After the completion of program trainees will be able to:

  • To perform psychosocial intervention
  • To apply skills and knowledge of wellbeing, intervention and community based
  • intervention (CBI) in psychosocial counselling
  • To apply skills and knowledge of mental health in psychosocial counselling
  • To apply skills and knowledge of gender, culture and counselling in
  • psychosocial counselling
  • To apply skills and knowledge of human development and behaviour in
  • psychosocial counselling
  • To deal with some of the common special Issues
  • To manage cases
  • To manage counselling centre
  • To perform documentation
  • To perform supervision, perform linkage, coordination and referrals
  • To apply counselling approaches, counselling skill and process.

Certificate:    6 Months

 

Entry Requirements

Five ‘O’ Level credits including Mathematics and English language.
